Unlike complicated software that requires proximity to a computer, or traditional telescopes that must be continually adjusted, this device uses a combination of automatic GPS-locating and three axis sensors measuring gravitational and magnetic fields, in addition to its own extensive built-in digital astronomy database, to establish its current position, eliminating the need to consult star charts and constantly adjust for location and time changes. A tracking button helps you locate a specific object by selecting it in the menu and following the onscreen prompts, while a highlight option provides suggestions for the best celestial viewing based on the date, time, and your current location. Information, including name, distance, history, trivia, and mythology, is relayed to the user through audio and text presentations via the built-in speaker and LCD screen. The high-impact plastic casing has rubber armor for worry-free outdoors use, and the unit is approximately the size of a paperback and weighs less than one pound. It comes with headphones, a carrying case, a hand strap, and a USB cable to connect to your PC for software updates.
